What are the symptoms of varicose veins?

Varicose veins may not cause pain. However, some of the Varicose veins symptoms include:

  • Veins of a dark purple or blue color
  • On the legs, veins that seem twisted and bulging, frequently resembling cords

When varicose veins cause pain, the following signs and symptoms may appear:

  • Legs that are achy or heavy to the touch

What are the causes of varicose vein?

Varicose veins are caused by faulty or damaged valves. Blood is transported from the heart to the rest of the body via arteries. The heart receives blood from the rest of the body via veins. The veins in the legs must battle against gravity to return blood to the heart.

Lower leg muscle contractions act as pumps, and elastic vein walls aid blood return to the heart. As blood flows toward the heart, tiny valves in the veins open, then close to prevent blood from flowing backward. Blood can flow backward and pool in the veins if these valves are weak or damaged, stretching or twisting the veins.

Endovenous Treatment with Laser

Endovenous laser treatment may treat the legs with larger varicose veins. A laser fiber is transmitted into the vein by a thin tube (catheter). The doctor looks at the vein on a duplex ultrasound screen (Sonography) while doing so.

A laser is less painful than vein ligation and stripping, and the recovery time is shorter. For laser treatment, only a regional anesthetic or a light sedative is required. General anesthesia is used to sleep you for ligation and stripping.
