Sterilization

WHAT IS STERILIZATION?

Sterilization is a permanent method of birth control. It is the most popular form of birth control worldwide.

In tubal ligation, the fallopian tubes are cut and tied or clipped. Tubal ligation prevents the sperm from achieving the egg.

IF YOU ARE READY FOR STERILIZATION?

Tubal ligation causes a permanent loss of fertility.

Couples who are unsure about whether they wish to have children in the future should pick a less permanent type of contraception, for example, Oral Contraceptive pills, an intrauterine device (IUD) like Copper-T or Mirena, or a barrier method like condoms.

Your partner may similarly consider having a vasectomy.

After having Laparoscopic Tubal Ligation or having Tube Tied

Most ladies can go home on the same day few hours after the procedure and resume daily activities in 1 to 2 days.
